THE LEGAL PROFESSION AND THE BUSINESS CLIENT

The legal profession serves a variety of functions for the business client ranging from writing and review of legal documents and representing clients in legal proceedings to structuring business transactions and assisting in business planning.

Clients can rely on lawyers for much or little involvement in their affairs. Some lawyers are part of a client's management team, including accountants, tax advisors, insurance agents, bankers and others.

In developing the lawyer's role, client and lawyer must be frank with one another and determine together the role the lawyer will have. No lawyer can handle all client matters with expertise. Both client and lawyer need to recognize when there is a need to seek further help.

At Dean, Dunn & Phillips LLC, every effort is made to develop the proper attorney-client relationship. Principles followed include:

  • Communicate promptly and regularly with client
  • Promptly turn around client matters
  • Sustain cost consciousness
  • Thoroughly analyze legal problems
  • Study present and future impact of legal solutions
  • Maintain high standards in representation of the client
  • Recognize the specific needs of each different client
  • Offer independent insight, analysis and consultation
  • Be dedicated to the client's interests
